Computer Furniture

Ergonomics is the science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely; also called human engineering. The primary ingredient in a console’s ergonomics is adjustability! This adjustability allows the work environment of each operator to be modified to fit his or her unique physical needs. This reduces operator fatigue, and reduces operating costs as outlined in an April 1997 article in Cost Engineering magazine titled “Shiftworker fatigue: The $77 Billion Problem” by E. Coburn.

Modular Console “Adjustability” Means Good Ergonomics

Several factors have been considered in designing our console with good ergonomics:

  • Use of Corning brand optically coated, glare reducing glass. This feature adds cost but is a very important characteristic to retain in any monitor housing design.

  • 10 degree slope angle on front of monitor housings to reduce glare and improve operators sight lines to the monitors.

  • Adjustable tilt CRT trays to reduce monitor glare and optimize operator viewing angles.

  • Articulating keyboard and mouse trays.
